Windmill Care Centre, Slough

About this project

2002 – Shortlisted for Pinders Healthcare Design Awards

The objective with The Windmill Care Centre was to provide a nursing home with a facility for young, physically disabled residents.

DWA Architects, in close consultation with the operators and Planning Authority, formulated an appropriate design brief.

A major design requirement was to provide a building of similar impact as its predecessor.  It was also important that the history of the site should not be lost but be reflected in the proposals. This was achieved by emulating the materials used in the surrounding area.

The accommodation provides 52 bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, resident day rooms, health and hairdressing facilities.
