Priscilla Wakefield House, Tottenham

About this project

2008 – Winner of Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. Best Contemporary Designed Care Home

Priscilla Wakefield House Care Home comprises 112 en-suite beds and is set on four floors, including a basement.

The building covers a substantial part of the site and, being set close to the street frontages on three sides at ground floor level, leaves only a small internal courtyard as a garden area.

As a consequence of the stepped nature of the building, at the upper floors a series of terrace roof gardens have been carefully designed to provide secure external spaces for the enjoyment of residents.

The building design is of a contemporary style, using a combination of brickworks and render with UPVC windows and aluminium curtain walling, capped with a curved roof covered with single membrane roofing stepping down in part from four floors to two storeys.
