Lord Harris Court, Sindlesham
About this project
2007 – Shortlisted for Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. Best Extension to an Existing Home
This 13 bedroom roof extension provides for an innovative cost effective solution to expand the facilities at Lord Harris Court for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution.
In order to complete the design a new steel frame was designed with an innovative solution to support the new floor. A full A frame was installed.
From this frame, columns were hung from the steel above with the floor attached to the base of these columns so that the whole new floor was suspended down from the steel frame above, thus no undue loading was expressed onto the internal walling.
All the steelwork and columns were carefully designed so that from the internal area none of the steelwork can be noticed. The proposals were also designed with greater detailing on the internal features and fittings.
