Lendal House, York

About this project

DWA Architects and Ward Consulting were involved with the extension and internal alterations to Lendal House, a Grade II listed, 5 storey building which includes a basement.

Located in York city centre, the development sought to amend use of the building from office space to retail.

A comprehensive high specification internal refurbishment modernised the interior of the building thus creating a contemporary retail space set within the traditional exterior of the building.

Original features were retained and refurbished in keeping with the surrounding historical environment.

During the works part of a Legionary fortress and interval tower dating from AD71 were uncovered. This was recorded and left in situ for future generations to study.
