About this project

2004 – Shortlisted for Pinders Healthcare Design Awards

The Carebase group of companies purchased Honey Lane Nursing Home in 2002 with the intention of extending it to provide a care home which could offer facilities to provide care to a wider range of residents.

The original home was built in the early 1990’s in a cruciform formation with the three main bedroom wings, plus a service wing, which had a smaller number of relatively isolated bedrooms and a large dayroom which was under utilised.

Honey Lane is purpose built with both dementia care and individual needs in mind. The building houses some special facilities such as a Snoezelen sensory room and sensory bathrooms

It is also the simple touches which make the home comfortable. For example, rooms are tastefully furnished and corridors are wide with plenty of daylight which is essential for residents living with dementia.
