DWA Architects win approval for assisted living complex in Peterborough

York-based DWA Architects has secured planning permission to transform a vacant office building into a state-of-the-art assisted living complex in Peterborough for adults with learning difficulties.

On behalf of Precious Homes, DWA had to creatively retain the locally listed frontage, whilst designing two new buildings, to create 24 assisted living homes.

The new homes, located on Eastfield Road, will help support adults with learning difficulties and will feature both residential and support space.

David Ward, Managing Director of DWA Architects, said: “To secure planning approval we had to be innovative and creative in our designs to blend the existing front of the building and to marry the new build element with parts of the existing building. The needs of the future residents was paramount to our designs right from the start.”

With over 30 years’ experience, DWA Architects specialise in care, residential and commercial projects, from offices in York, Altrincham and London.
